Nestled in a small New England town resembling a mini castle, is the Willow Library. There you will find Miss Moon behind her stacks of old leather bound books and beneath her jungle of hanging plants. Many have sought her wisdom. Many destinies she has steered.
Who is the Librarian known as Miss Moon?
Her origins are unclear. She mentioned to Diana in Moonlit Meadow: “I am a Guardian, a Comet Rider, a Dream Spinner.” What does that mean??
As you noticed the books in the series are based on Comet Years. What comet? Is that how old Miss Moon is? To those who have visited the Willow Library, she appears to be in her seventies or early eighties, and according to Jesse Monroe, she has looked the same since he was a kid. She has always looked older with white hair and been short in stature. The records that might explain when she arrived have mysteriously vanished.
Where does she live? She is at the library when it opens and when it closes. No one can remember when she didn’t work there. If you asked your parents or even your grand-parents who is that woman working in the reference area, they will respond, ”Miss Moon, of course.” It is rather comforting to know she will be there when you need her advice.
What is with all those old references; ancient yellowed maps, earthy smelling leather bound books, and obscure facts about long lost places and people, she lovely attends to? Where did she get them? They are rather intriguing.
Can she leave the library? In Oak Ridge Shadows Casey makes reference that she can’t leave it. Is that true? What will happen if she does? Will she cease to exist? Will the Willow Library?
How is it Miss Moon seems to know so much about those who visit and live nearby? Is she Fae, or an alien, or a wizard? Maybe time will tell. For now enjoy observing how she steers lives to their fates, or destiny, or true love.
